Ingredients

12 large eggs
  • 12 large eggs
Creamy deviled filling
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.25 cup dill pickles finely minced
  • 2 tbsp dill pickle juice
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.125 tsp salt
Garnish
  • 1 pickle slices small pickle slices for garnish
  • 1 dill fronds fresh dill fronds for garnish

Method

Boil and peel the eggs
  1. Place the large eggs in a pot, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil; cover, remove from heat, and let stand 12 minutes until the yolks are set. Visual cue: the water reaches a rolling boil before you remove the pot.
  2. Chill the eggs in an ice bath for 10 minutes, then peel and halve lengthwise. Visual cue: the shells loosen easily and the halved eggs look fully cooled.
Make the deviled filling
  1. Mash the egg yolks with mayonnaise, dill pickle juice, Dijon mustard, fresh dill, garlic powder, and salt until smooth. Visual cue: the mixture turns glossy and uniform with no yolk chunks.
  2. Fold in the minced dill pickles. Visual cue: you see small green pickle pieces evenly distributed through the filling.
Fill and garnish
  1. Spoon or pipe the filling into the egg whites. Visual cue: the centers are filled flush with a rounded top.
  2. Top each with a pickle slice and a dill frond. Visual cue: garnish sits on top like a small cap for a fresh finish.

Notes

For the cleanest peeling, cool the eggs fully in the ice bath and peel under cool running water if needed. Store covered in the refrigerator up to 3 days. Freeze not recommended due to texture changes. For a lower-fat option, use light mayonnaise and reduced-fat Dijon without changing the method.
