Ingredients
Method
Boil and peel the eggs
- Place the large eggs in a pot, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil; cover, remove from heat, and let stand 12 minutes until the yolks are set. Visual cue: the water reaches a rolling boil before you remove the pot.
- Chill the eggs in an ice bath for 10 minutes, then peel and halve lengthwise. Visual cue: the shells loosen easily and the halved eggs look fully cooled.
Make the deviled filling
- Mash the egg yolks with mayonnaise, dill pickle juice, Dijon mustard, fresh dill, garlic powder, and salt until smooth. Visual cue: the mixture turns glossy and uniform with no yolk chunks.
- Fold in the minced dill pickles. Visual cue: you see small green pickle pieces evenly distributed through the filling.
Fill and garnish
- Spoon or pipe the filling into the egg whites. Visual cue: the centers are filled flush with a rounded top.
- Top each with a pickle slice and a dill frond. Visual cue: garnish sits on top like a small cap for a fresh finish.
Notes
For the cleanest peeling, cool the eggs fully in the ice bath and peel under cool running water if needed. Store covered in the refrigerator up to 3 days. Freeze not recommended due to texture changes. For a lower-fat option, use light mayonnaise and reduced-fat Dijon without changing the method.
